All the hard work was done in the 44 games prior to the Brentford match, no more so than at Wrexham the weekend before where we actually clinched the title after a 2-1 win. Again we had to come from behind, this time at 1-0 down at half-time having played a pretty woeful opening 45 minutes against the struggling Welshmen. However, we showed our championship form in the second period and young Curtis Davies grabbed headlines as his header, the winning goal, was his first career goal - what a time to score it!

I have to admit it was quite an emotional moment when over 2,000 travelling Hatters started singing "We Are The Champions" at The Racecourse that day - for the very first time as champions.

LEAGUE ONE CHAMPIONS 2004-2005

Champions!

The fine moment when our captain fantastic 'Super Kev' as he's affectionately knows by fans, lifted the League One trophy aloft. It was in front of more than 7,000 adoring fans at Kenilworth Road. It was only the fifth time ever Luton had netted a league title, and in about 120 years of existance, that is a rather special feat I'm sure you'd agree. We had just beaten Brentford 4-2 in a game where we were 2-1 down with only eight minutes to go. And bearing in mind there is no love lost between 'The Bees' and ourselves it really was, quite simply the perfect way to warm up the trophy lifting proceedings.
