Fans/atmosphere

A low crowd meant very little happened, but Orient fans were some of the friendliest i have met, no trouble in the pubs before or after and fans mixing in with each other with no hassle, so every one was getting drunk and not fighting for a change. After hugs and kisses with the Orient fans in the Coach and horses, we headed back to Bedfordshire safely into the next roundof the cup, and singing anti-watford songs on the tube.

Leyton Orient 1-3 Luton Town

Match Report

An easy(ish ) journey and good weather saw 577 Luton fans travel down to orient in a total crowd of 2,383. Pre-match beers for me, and a relaxed atmosphere did not deter the Luton  side from tearing into their league two opponents like they were Watford on a league decider derby day, there was a massive gulf in class from the off, Luton knocking the ball about, Orient only chasing shadows,  however Enoch Showunmi could not hit a barn door. On twelve minutes the lively looking Feeney was fed a cross from new boy Carlos Edwards, but his shot looped over glyn garner and unfortunately the crossbar too.

Orient’s Michael simpson tried his luck from 30 yards but Beresford, parried the ball over the bar, not all over as ex-Cambridge player Shane Tudor fizzed a shot just over the bar.

On 35 minutes, Kevin Nicholls aerial ball found enoch showunmi, but Enoch failed to deliver, slicing his shot terribly. Just before halftime Chris Coyne received the ball on the edge of the right hand side of the area and curled a lovely volley over the crowded goalmouth and stranded Orient keeper Garner.

*Goal 44 minutes O’s 0-1 HATTERS

Luton Started the second half  with a high tempo, Dean Morgan showing his outstanding ability at set pieces firing a 35 yard free kick at the crossbar in front of the Orient home end.

Orients Efe Echanomi was causing Luton all sorts of problems, cutting in from the right and skinning past defenders with ease, and was judged to have pulled back Coyne when through on goal, which could have lead to a tighter contest.

On 71 minutes Showunmi used his strength to fight off defenders to square the ball to Feeney who blasted in from a short distance

*Goal 71 MINUTES O’s 0-2 HATTERS

Then just four minutes later the Hatters added another goal to the scoresheet, a nicholl’s free kick spectacularly headed into the net by Orient player Alexander into the top corner of the net.

*Goal 75 minutes O’s 0-3 HATTERS

Orient never rolled over though and in injury time McMahon slotted the ball past Beresford into the bottom right corner of the goal for a consolation.

*Goal 90 MINUTES O’s 1-3 Hatters

*Full time Leyton Orient 1-3 Luton Town.
