Hull City 0-1 Luton Town
Match Report
Despite the amount of chances we created, this victory at the KC, in my opinion seemed like a case of a smash and grab style victory, one in which a late goal seperated two sides promoted from league 1 last term. The game got off to a frantic start in front on the Sky TV cameras, Hull by far the better team in the first period. Saying that, a disallowed goal from Ahmet Brkovic, on closer inspection was wrongly called offside by the lino. This coming just four minutes after the Tigers themselves had a disallowed goal, correctly disallowed for offside.
*Half-time Hull City 0-0 Luton Town
The second period was much better from the town, much more free flowing football and a joy for the nation to see us playing in such a fine way. After 45 minutes of sluggish football and defensively poor, Luton bucked up there ideas with Steve Howard's shot the closest we came to breaking the deadlock, but his scrappy effort only found the base of the post. It was then time for Myhill, City's no.1 to make a smart save, Beresford had made many in the same goal in the first period.
As time ticked away it seemed both sides were settling for a point, but then a closely worked move inside the box found Howard, in space with the ball. His effort was sweet and into the top right and 400 or so Luton fans behind the goal went crazy
*GOAL 85 minutes Tigers 0-1 HATTERS
Four minutes were added from what seemed like nowhere, but we surivived it and despite Perrett's late injury and the introduction of youth player Leon Barnett, we held on. A fantastic three points swiped from the KC.
