Fans/atmosphere

Unsurprisingly a great atmosphere, but somehow they didn't fill all the home end. The disgrace that was, in only allowing half the away end to be open mattered not in terms of out singing the Yellow Bellies. I have to say it was my first experience of standing up for 90+ minutes in a seated area. Was a great atmopshere - just a shame they stuck it on at lunchtime on a Sunday.

Day's ratings

Stadium - 6/10 Vicarage Road
Home fans - 4/10 Well I can't have it above that can I? Couldn't fill it for their biggest match of the season when they're in the play-offs with just a few games to go and barely could they be heard from the away end. Rubbish!
Away fans - 9/10 Class act, imitating the police dogs
Journey - 6/10 Bit rubbishy, on the old buses and having to go a long way round on the way home, police escorted of course
Programme - ?/10 Not queing for that long
Match itself - 7/10 Not at all bad
Performance - 7/10 Pretty good, I felt a much better and more motivated match, if only we could have played with that much spirit in the other away games since Christmas we'd have been in the top 6 no bother
Hatters' star Man - Ahmet Brkovic (9/10) He scored our equaliser at Watford? Helloooo!

Watford 1-1 Luton Town

Match Report

A result neither side would have wanted, but one which in the end both had to settle for. A packed out away end, of course with only 2,318 tickets given to us of course, where many more would have travelled in normal circumstances.

The match began in lively fashion, but the opener didn't come until the 36th minute, when, at the time we were questioning whether he was offside or not, a chipped ball forward inside the left hand side of the penalty area, was met by Marlon King, who made no mistake in shooting over Marlon
*GOAL 36 minutes HORNETS 1-0 Hatters
An immediate response was wanted and the Hatters strode forward, but to no avail.
*Half-time Watford 1-0 Luton Town

Although there was nothing particularly dour about the first half, there was very little to note. However, the second half changed things around, in terms of entertainment, vastly. The visitors almost stole an early lead but, from a corner, Barnett's cracking dive was saved by the very unreliable looking Foster in the Watford goal.

Foley then had an abolutely great run into the Watford half, having exchanged passes with the skilful Carlos Edwards, but his left footed shot was inexplicable, and it seemed we might have to leave with nothing. However, Perrett's flick, from a trademark long throw from Edwards, found Brkovic who did well to get over the ball and send it into the net. The awayday Hatters went, literally...mad!

A disallowed goal and late pressure from the hosts meant the Luton fans went away not too disappointed, but over the 90 minutes, knowing their boys had played the better football. However, a point a piece and two more big derby games next season. Unless the dreaded happens. That is not worth thinking about.
