Getting there

From Luton it might make sense to travel by train, but if that doesn't do it for you and you prefer going by car then here are the road directions:-

  • Exit Motorway M25 at Junction 7 (Croydon, Brighton)
  • Head towards Croydon on the A23 through Coulsdon
  • Bypass the Town Centre staying on the A23 straight over ‘Fiveways Corner’
  • At Thornton Heath Pond roundabout turn right onto the A235 and the immediately first left into Brigstock Road
  • Continue straight over the junction with the A212 into Whitehorse Lane
  • CPFC, Selhurst park is on the right
PLEASE NOTE: Parking is, unsurprisingly a nightmare in London, around the ground, so allow plenty of time for that

If you do, however wish to go by train, we suggest catching the train from town and going to East Croydon and then catching the local line to Selhurst (it's only a three minute journey). This will get you to within a 5-10 minute walk of the ground.

Where to eat & drink

Opposite Thornton Heath Railway Station there is a Wetherspoons pub, which has a good atmopshere. It's about 10-15 minute walk from here to Selhurst Park, just follow the other fans after turning right out of the pub.

Chip shops are ever present around the ground too.

Pubs around Selhurst station

Two Brewers - on Gloucester Road

Clifton Arms - on Clifton Road

Crystal Palace - Saturday 6th August 3:00pm

Selhurst Park, South London

Match preview

The first of 46 big Championship matches. For us, a fantastic place to be having been in the lower reaches of the league for a decade or so now, but for Palace a place where they'd rather not be, having been just six minutes away from Premiership football again this season. However, as what has always happened to them in each and every Premier League season, they were relagated and to rub salt into the wound it was after a 2-2 draw at neighbours Charlton Athletic.

Palace's chairman, Simon Jordan said this was not a 'glamorous' tie for his side to start with, but as far as we're concerned, we really don't care whether we are glamorous or not, by the time the season starts on August 6th, we will be at your Selhurst Park digs, ready or not!
