Getting there

You can go by train if you get on at Milton Keynes as this takes you direct to Stoke station. However, it may be better to just go by road as getting from the station to the ground is a 3 or so mile walk and it may be a hassle to get to Milton Keynes anyway. Going by road is easy enough:-

  • Take the M1 to junction 24, then at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A50 (signposted Stoke, Derby)
  • Continue on the A50 eventually leading you into Stoke-on-Trent
  • Branch left (signposted Britannia Stadium) (signposted Newcastle, M6)
  • At roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Stanley Matthews Way and then you'll see The Britannia Stadium in all it's glory
  • SCFC is straight ahead
  • Car parking is no problem, for £4 you can park in the sports complex which is close by.

Where to eat & drink

Because of the ground's location, there are few pubs around The Britannia. There's the Staffordshire Knott in Handford but this is a long way from the ground and you'd need to go to it en route to the stadium. Your best bet would probably be going to the sports complex close by as this is visitor friendly and serves up food and drink all day and this is called the Potters Bar.

Stoke City - Saturday 20th August 3:00pm

Britannia Stadium, Staffordshire

Match preview

A trip to Stoke City after a fantastic result a fortnight earlier at Palace, we'll be looking to keep up the momentum from the last away match, in the capital when we travel up north for the first time this season, ahead of three away games in a week. More than 1,000 Luton fans are expected, and are expected to boost an already big crowd at 'The Brit' as Stoke have made it 'Happy Day' and reduced their admission prices considerably for both home and away supporters.

Travelling up there top of the league will do no harm what so ever and after the recent performances at The Kenilworth, against Southampton and Leeds, Stoke know that we will be no pushovers. All in all it's billed up to be a highly entertaining fixture like the last time we visited The Brit and won 3-1 in our most recent relegation season. We were going downwards at that time though and this time around we are most certainly on the up!

The hosts themselves are a well established Championship side will be looking for all three points and will certainly be no pushovers what so ever, either. They have often been on the brink of play-offs to the Premier League in parts of seasons, but recently have struggled to maintain a real promotion push. After a summer and pre-season of turmoil and takeovers at the club, many Stoke fans will be pleased to finish in mid-table obscurity. But as we found out the season before last, a troublesome pre-season doesn't always have a bad effect on the field and a lot of funny things happen in football...!
